Downtown Renewal Vision
Helena, Montana

City officials in Helena, Montana hired Better City and Dowling Architects to assist the city in creating a Downtown Renewal Vision for Cruse Avenue, a key road in their town. Included in the plan was the vision to provide better access and improve commercial viability for the downtown. The Better City team held over 30 stakeholder interviews and was able to identify best practices for Redevelopment Agency Structures across Montana. Better City also assisted Helena officials through the process of establishing the Urban Renewal District so the City can use tax increment for public infrastructure and façade improvements.

This project served as a catalyst for economic development in Helena, leading to the creation of several agencies and plans to oversee and improve the quality of life for the people of this Montana city.
