Workforce Training Facility

Better City assisted the City of Springfield in securing a $1.29 million grant for a technical training facility that will provide space to conduct work skills training in the precision manufacturing and construction trades industry. The City contracted with Better City after facing decades of chronic, high unemployment and the lack of marketable job skills within their workforce. 

This 11,400 square foot multipurpose training facility will be instrumental in mitigating the unemployment crisis by providing some 200 new jobs. Technical training and mentoring opportunities will be given to over 240 of the working poor, at-risk youth and disadvantaged area. Vital job skills development and small business economic growth will be essential to the progress of this community and rebuilding.
