The City of Mount Holly is rapidly being encroached upon by the expansion of the Charlotte metropolitan area.  The City wants to grow and provide a higher standard of living for its residents while not losing its heritage as a small, tight-knit community.

The City engaged Better City to lead directed, intentional efforts to recruit retail that would enhance the quality of life, recruit jobs that would reduce commute times for residents and increase incomes and help drive important community efforts through securing funding and modeling capital stacks.

We started the engagement by conducting an Industry Cluster Analysis and a training with the City Council regarding the Project Development District. We also completed a Parking Study and have initiating monthly Community Coffee events to enhance the collaboration among the business community.

Ongoing efforts are underway to create a Project Development District downtown to help catalyze the City’s Veteran Park project. Other major initiatives we are supporting include the development of:

• The North Gateway Town Center
• Mixed use building anchored by a grocery store
• Light industrial facility
